I had coaching course from 8am to 5pm.
Today I attend a coaching course that lasts for 8 hours (1hour lunch break). I attended this course is to learn how to be a coach, and maybe someday I can coach my juniors in school. (:
The course started at 8am. We first introduced ourselves to each other, this helps me to be more sociable and to be less relax. Later we start the lesson by saying why we want to be a coach. My main reason to be a coach is to look at netball at another perspective. I've look at netball as a player's perspective and an umpire's prespective and now trying on as a coach.
We went through the ground rules of netball and it's history. Later we were taught the procedures of planning a training. I learnt the different types of warm-ups and ball drills. We even had to act like coaches to teach the others in the course. I felt that it was a great learning experience to attend this lesson.
We learn the different methods of defending, attacking and shooting. We even have to try it out and try to make up our own methods. We also learnt how to do ball drills and we had to create our own ball drills too! We were also taught that coaching isn't what makes a good coach, it is also communicating well with the players. We have to use positive words such as "well done", "great job", "good", "yes" and cut down on the negative words such as "no", "this is not right", "wrong"
At the end of the day, I've learnt alot about how to be a good coach and I felt that the lesson was very very useful (:
